What does this have to do with Global Warming?
Global Warming is basically the side-effect of climate change.
Climate change is a long-term change in the average weather pattern around the earth. Long and cold winters, droughts, heatwaves, and heavy rains due to rising sea levels, are also causing hurricanes, floods, and causing property damages, deforestation, and habitat loss.
What is Global Warming?
Global warming is a consequence of climate change. It is the heating of the planet's oceans, surface, and atmosphere. The main cause is human activity.
This includes the burning of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, and coal.
By controlling the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, the carbon cycle controls Earth’s climate and its temperature. Basically, Earth emits energy, heated by the sun on a regular basis. CO2 along with other natural gases absorb that heat and bounce it back into space so the Earth can cool. This is the Greenhouse Effect.
The Greenhouse Effect
The Greenhouse Effect is a natural phenomenon that makes it warm enough for life to exist on Earth. Without this effect, Earth’s average temperature would freeze the globe. However, increases in greenhouse gases have caused Earth to have an imbalance of its own energy cycle, trapping extra heat and elevating Earth's average global temperature. The more greenhouse gases that are emitted into the air, the higher chance the atmosphere is trapping hotter energy close to the surface.
Heatwaves
Heat waves have also increased twice as much since 2020. In addition, heatwaves have been coming along with periods of no rainfall. This ends in a drought and many people are affected by heat, and dry temperatures begin to cause fires while the humidity is extremely low.
Drought
Droughts are caused by low precipitation over an extended period of time. Surface water evaporates quickly in areas of a dry and warm setting. This, beginning to increase the risk of drought.
Droughts can move tons of sand across the globe by the moving sand and dust storms. Deserts are expanding, making little room for land to grow food. Many people now face the threat of not having enough water on a regular basis as well. Droughts can last months to many years. California has been in a huge drought for a long time. In the year 2020-2021, they had among the driest seasons.

Glacial Ice Melting
The melting of polar caps and glaciers is one of the first effects of climate change due to global warming. Since 1961, glacial melting has risen sea levels by 2.7 centimeters. Emissions of CO2 heat our oceans, land, and atmosphere of our planet.
When glacial ice melts and sea levels rise, it also leads to quicker warming of the planet because water then evaporates. Earth is heating up at a faster rate as a result to these emissions. Greenhouse gases heat the environment, therefore melting glaciers and ice caps. Melting of these glaciers increases coastal erosion, which elevates storm surges as warming air and ocean temperatures create more frequent and intense coastal storms like hurricanes, typhoons, and tsunamis.
Floods
Areal floods and such can be caused either by heavy rainfall, snow and ice melting. Larger floods come due to tropical storms, and rising sea levels. Rising sea levels evaporate moisture in the air, which can cause more heavy rainfall, leading to floods. As the ocean water gets heated, it expands as it rises and then evaporates. This can lead to hurricanes and tsunamis as well, which further floods communities.
Conversely, when temperatures rise, heavy rains occur. As the ocean warms, it expands, melting permafrost snow and glacier ice. This, in conclusion causes sea levels to rise. This leads to more and intense tropical storms such as hurricanes, down the road. On the other hand, droughts occur when there is a lack of rainfall for a long time. It gets worse with intense heat waves. Along with that, our food and water supply decrease in amount. This is all due to climate change and the effects of global warming.
